A computer musician and R&D engineer, Benjamin Lévy holds a degree in engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure de l'Électronique et de ses Applications, a master's degree in Sciences Applied to Music from the prestigious Ircam Institute, and a Ph. Doctorate in Computer Science.

He also attended courses in cello, composition and improvisation at the Saint-Ouen, Cergy-Pontoise and the Paris National Conservatoires.

Since 2008, Benjamin has regularly collaborated with the Ircam teams on R&D projects and artistic creations. In particular, between 2008 and 2013, for his doctorate, he completely redesigned the OMax improvisation software.

As a musician with the computer as an instrument, he participates in various creations that combine contemporary music, jazz, free improvisation, theatre and dance. For more than twelve years, he has regularly performed on stage with the jazz saxophonist Raphaël Imbert and recorded three albums with the saxophonist and vocalist Alexandra Grimal, creating a musical and poetic garden.

For five years, he worked full-time as a computer music designer for Ircam, playing pieces from the 20th century repertoire and collaborating with composers to create innovative and diverse pieces, from chamber music with live electronics to immersive 3D audiovisual experiences.
