In the visualization area, the 3D VENUE displays the positions of all the virtual objects.
By default a Speaker is represented with its 3D model, whereas a Virtual Source is represented by default with a sphere.
Only the Mono, Stereo and Multichannel objects are represented in the 3D VENUE. They can be moved across and positioned directly in the 3D VENUE view: the spatialization algorithms relies on the position of the sources and the speakers to perform the automatic source panning.
Use the 3D Venue Options Bar to control the display options such as background opacity or object size.
The predefined and custom views allow for a quick access to specific visualization angles. Four predefined orientations are available:
- Top view
- Side view
- Perspective view (axonometric)
- Front view
Three user custom views are available from the popup menu. To save a new custom view, maintain the SHIFT key pressed and click on the custom view number.
The 3D VENUE view can be freely moved with the mouse, by using the following key combinations:
- Adjusting the viewing angle:
cmd+ click & move
- Moving the 3D venue view:
alt+ click & move
- Double click on an object to center the view on it
- Zoom in and out with your mouse wheel or your trackpad depending on its gestures configuration.
The Object Size popup slider changes the size of all 3D objects displayed in the 3D Venue (virtual sources and speakers). You can also adjust the object size of each object individually from the '3D Parameters' section of the Speaker or Sources.
From the opacity menu, you can set the transparency of the Labels, the Vu-Meters, and the positioning grid.
For more opacity options, you can use the Visibility Layers to set the transparency of the sources, speakers and the venue map.
This button will toggle the labels.
From the Visibility Layers, you can set more precisely the label’s display, and activate or deactivate le labels for a default or custom visibility layer.
Click on the VU-meter icon to open the display mode selection. Four display modes are offered:
- OFF no levels are displayed in the 3D VENUE
- BAR standard VU-meter bars are displayed alongside the objects
- SQUARE color-changing dots are displayed alongside the objects
- COLOR the object's colors are replaced by the VU-meter color indication
You can also choose between the following VU-meters position:
- PRE displays the received signal directly after the audio input
- POST displays the signal sent to the panning
From the popup menu, you can activate the display of the grid, and you can choose the precision of it. Use the 'XYZ' and 'AED' buttons to change the aspect of the grid to one of the Coordinate Systems.
When a SOLO is active on one or multiple sources, the SOLO CLEAR will turn yellow. Click on it to disable any active solos.
The Visibility Layers are the evolution of the former visibility lists (in the Inspector’s main page) from previous versions of HOLOPHONIX.
Default layers are defined. To add a Layer, click on the 'Add' button. You can then drag and drop objects from a visibility layer to your custom layer(s). An object can only be inside one layer.
For each layer, you can set the following options:
- Activate or deactivate the display in the 3D Venue (your objects will still be accessible from the Inspector, Overview, Routing...),
- Activate or deactivate the label’s display,
- Change the opacity of the layer.
From a right-click in the 3D Venue, you can perform multiple tasks:
- Add or remove sources or buses,
- Change the Grid display options,
- Select a transformation mode (see Objects Manipulation).
To select multiple objects in the 3D VENUE, click and drag a selection box around the area containing the objects to select or hold down the ‘SHIFT’ key and click on the objects you want to select.
When editing the parameters of objects in a multiple selection, they will all be set to the same value.
The selected objects can also be moved together. To persistently move a selection of objects together and link their parameters, create a group in the Groups View.
HOLOPHONIX 1.7 introduced a new transformation tool, which offers advanced positioning options.
To position a Source or a Speaker in the 3D Venue, select it, then it can be positioned freely when placing the cursor at the center of the object.
Select an axis of the transformation tool to move the Source or Speaker only in that axis. Thanks to this tool, you can keep control of the source position, even if the 3D Venue is displayed with a 3D angle.
You can also move the source only in a specific plane: place your cursor on the square that is between axis, then move the source. For example, if you place your cursor on the square corresponding to the horizontal plane, when you move the source, only it X and Y or Azimuth and Distance coordinates will change. No elevation will be applied to the source.
From the right-click menu, you can choose multiple transformation modes, detailed below.
This is the default transformation mode, described in this section.
This transformation mode is only useful when multiple sources or speakers are selected. It allows changing the scaling of the selection.
Use the different axis to scale the multiple selection, or use the plane scaling by clicking on the square in between two axes.
The rotation mode allows applying 3D rotations to a source (when the transformation reference is set to the center), or to a group of objects.
Use red, green and blue circles to move the sources or speakers along a specific rotation axis.
The external yellow circle applies a rotation in the display plane (controlled by the Venue Orientation). If you are set to the Top View, then the rotation will occur in the (x,y) plane. However, if you are set to the perspective vie or to any 3D-viewing angle, the yellow external circle will apply a diagonal, oblique rotation.
From the right click menu, you can change the translation reference to the center of the selection ('Local'), or to the center of the venue ('Center').
- To position a single source with the translation mode, set the transform reference to 'Local',
- To apply a scaling to a multiple selection of sources, use the scaling mode with reference set to 'Local',
- To apply a rotation around the venue to a source or a multiple selection of sources, use the rotation mode with the reference set to 'Center'.
